Young carers
You may be looking after, or helping to look after someone else in your family who has a long term illness or disability.
These are some of the things you may do:
- cook, clean, wash or shop
- help wash or dress the person the person who needs care or
- organising the home.
- give lots of emotional support to the person who needs care.
These are some of the issues you may have to face:
- pressures of school life
- difficult to talk to friends
- worries and concerns about yourself and your home life

Where can I find help and support in my area?
Carers' centres - can help with:
- information and advice
- help to get support at school
- opportunities to meet other Young Carers
- someone to talk to, in confidence
- time out from caring
