About this website

The Carers in Oxfordshire website is hosted by Oxfordshire County Council and has been developed in partnership with Oxford Carers' Centre.

At a meeting of the Carers Strategy steering group in June 2004, one priority that carers identified was their need for clear and up-to-date information to help and support them in their caring role.  It was agreed that the best way forward would be to develop a dedicated website for carers and professionals in Oxfordshire.

Work started in the summer of 2005, and funds have been committed to ensure the website continues to grow and be a source of useful, accurate and relevant information for carers. Oxford Carers' Centre has worked with the two other carers' centres in the county, the Carers Forum, and individual carers at all stages, and continue to do so.  Their ideas have been incorporated into the development of the site.

The editorial group meets quarterly and includes representatives of the county council and the carers' centres.  The group helps to maintain, develop and market the site, and will help to inform the development of information in other formats for people who prefer not to access information on the web.

The site is designed to signpost to information and support. Feedback is very important to the usefulness of the site, and we encourage carers and professionals to let us have their comments.

Stage two of the website will be the development of interactive links to the county council website, starting with self-referrals and carer self-assessments that carers will be able to complete online.
