Young Carers' Project - North and West
Are you a Young Carer?
Are you looking after, or helping to look after someone else in your family who has a long term illness or disability?
You may cook, clean, wash or shop. You may help wash or dress the person who needs care or take responsibility for organising the home.
You may simply give lots of emotional support to the person who needs care.
Whatever you do, as a young carer, you are a young person too and there are times when you need extra help and support.
You may be finding it difficult to juggle your responsibilities at home with the pressures of school life.
Having someone else in the family with special needs may make it difficult for you to relax and have fun.
You may find it difficult to talk to friends about how you feel. You may be embarrassed or worry about being teased.
You may have lots of other worries and concerns about being a young carer.
The Young Carers Project can help with:
- information and advice about how to get extra practical or financial help for you and your family.
- help to get extra support at school if needed.
- opportunities to meet other young carers in your area.
- time out from caring
- someone to talk to, in confidence.
